Applying the Law of Attraction to your questions,
concerns and deliberate creations...

Q's Cutting-edge is all about you. On this page you will find continually updated insights, perspectives, quotes and practical, day-to-day ways for applying the Law of Attraction to your life. Becoming aware of something new is only valuable when you apply it!

There is a wonderful opportunity right now with the recent attention from Oprah, Larry King and others regarding "The Secret." As more and more people become aware of the amazing Law of Attraction, the more happiness, joy and deliberate living humans will have access to.

Along with this great opportunity, though, comes a challenge. The challenge is assisting you in learning HOW to apply the Law of Attraction to your life so that you CAN manifest all that you desire. If you don't learn the "rest of the secret," which is the many tools, techniques and insights for how to do what all those amazing, cutting-edge teachers are sharing, you won't get the results you so desire. And we all know what happens when there are no results... you stop believing and you fall right back into the non productive, stuck life you were living before.

My intention is make sure that does not happen. And that is what this page is all about. It is imperative to know that you do not learn the Law of Attraction and then "do it" perfectly. Mastering the Law of Attraction is an ongoing practice that you get to play with every single day for the rest of your life. So, let the fun begin......

Because he believes in himself he doesn't try to convince others

Because he is content with himself he doesn't need others' approval

Because he accepts himself the whole world accepts him

-- The Master- Tao te Jing

When this quote was shared with me, I knew that is one I desired to share with all of those who come to this website for inspiration, new thought and catalysts for evolution.

This quote speaks at a very fundamental and core level of the simplicity that is life while simultaneously reflecting the challenge of being human.

Each and every soul has come to this earth experience to travel a journey. We each have our own journey that resonates within us. However, even though those journeys are separate the traveling is not. The only way we can travel the journey is through the assistance of others. The map of our journey is within us. The only way we can discover that map, view it and decifer its coordinates is through the reflection of others.

That which we project outward is what we are then able to read, learn and experience of ourselves.

When you are attempting to convince someone of something (as the first line of the quote says), you can ask yourself, "What don't I believe?"

When you are attempting to get the approval of someone, you can ask yourself, "What do I believe I need to improve, change or stand up for within myself?"

When you are attempting to be accepted, you can ask yourself, "Am I being and living everything that I desire to?" If not, ask, "What can I change to create this congruence?" If you are in alignment with your own soul, then you can ask, "How does giving the power of my worth away for others to decide serving me?"

In every moment, we are seeing a reflection of our individual souls reflected in those who are willing to assist in our journey. Give a quiet thank you to all whom offer you this insight. They are pushing you toward your own greatness.

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could
not hear the music."

-Friedrich Nietzsche

Every day we are given the opportunity to live into our beingness. We get to choose who shows up and how that person presents his or herself to the world.

Be sure to share your music with others. You are here as role model for how to be whole. Others need your guidance in showing all that is contained within.

When you dance to the music of your life, others may appear to be confused, but if you look real hard, you will notice they are starting to sway to the beat and vibrate in the rhythm you are sharing. Before they know it, you will be dancing together.

Oh what a moment....

Hey, I recently saw "The Secret," and it truly inspired me and my life. I am an average person. I recently have had many ideas and dreams of becoming wealthy online. However, I haven't really succeeded in anything.

I followed the first step [of the Law of Attraction] which is to find out what you want and put a goal out and ask for it.

I bought a large poster and put images of pictures of what I want within this year, if not sooner. I have my favorite car, my dream house, and I want to run a business online making at least 1 million dollars a year. I put all of that on the poster.

After I read your article on the 3 steps [I might be missing], I didn't quite understand. The third step is clearing the pathway for everything to work. Does this mean that I have to take all my problems or everything I am facing in my life and just imagine everything is perfect even if it isn't? Should I just believe that anything that is bad, I should avoid, and only stick to the positive things in life?

Please tell me if what I am doing is right and what I should do if I am doing something wrong. Please help me and guide me to understanding the the law of attraction.

Thanks -Eric P., Brooklyn, NY

Hi Eric,

I am really happy you asked this question as I think this is one of those aspects of the Law of Attraction that can be a bit confusing.

What I talk about as the third key in my article, "If the Law of Attraction Hasn't Worked for You, You May Not Be Doing These Three Things," is identifying, replacing and/or removing what may be blocking your ability to consciously create what you most desire.

What this means is that we all have a lot going on in our subconscious minds. Obviously, we are being kept alive by our subconscious mind! If we had to consciously remember to breath and beat our hearts, well I think we all know how much trouble we would be in. However, the other thoughts running around in your subconscious are not necessarily supporting the total you so much as maybe only a part of you.

What I mean by this is that as children, we make a lot of decisions based on the significant experiences we go through. These decisions are made with the intention of serving you. And, they do! They serve the child you are. However, what happens is that those decisions, which ultimately become ingrained beliefs and translate into behaviors, are not challenged. They are not conscious thoughts, they are subconscious thoughts that pop up just when they are triggered. They are what many call "old tapes" running in your head.

In order to use the Law of Attraction as the tool that it is, you must be creating what you want by focusing your energy purely. If a part of you is holding on to some limiting belief or conflicting intention, then you are not creating from a clean space. You are creating from a tainted space. What you think you are putting your focus and attention on is divided (between what you are consciously wanting and what is already lodged in your subconscious). And since the subconscious mind is said to make up 88% of the mind, it is no wonder that if you are consciously desiring something and it isn't coming to fruition, the subconscious is hard at work.

The solution is digging into the subconscious and discovering what beliefs are lodged there? What decision did you make that are keeping your new desires from manifesting? Without becoming aware, you have no ability to replace or reframe what is stopping and blocking you.

So, it is not about ignoring. It the opposite. It is about becoming aware, embracing, removing and replacing what no longer serves you. This is how you clean up the energy and get it focused solely on what you want.

You can have all the things on your poster. But, the key questions to ask yourself are what do you really believe about all those things on your board? Do you really believe you can have those things? Do you really want those things or is there a drive based on what others have? If you did have those things, how would your life change? Do you want your life to change in those ways? What if somewhere deep inside there is something about your life that you absolutely love and you subconsciously fear that will change too? All of these answers play into your ability to manifest.

Dig into yourself and begin asking these hard questions. Find your patterns. Find your reactions. This will lead you where you need to go....

Manifest with Purpose. We only have so much time!
Melissa

"The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but to reveal to him his own."

Benjamin Disraeli
Former British Prime Minister

This quote has been the catalyst for what I do daily. I see the greatness that lives in all of you. I hold that space so you, too, can see it. There is no greater reward for me than to be a part of your journey.

Thank you to all whom I have journeyed with. What you have discovered has also been a part of my own discovery.

And, to all those whom I will be journeying with in the future, I look forward to discovering with you what you true contribution is...

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for this chance to talk about my problem. Well, I guess I don't know if it is a problem, but anyway, here it is.

I have been working in the same field (medical) for my whole career (30 years). It has been a good career and I don't harbor any bad feelings about it. Lately, though, the thought of getting out of it has been overwhelming. I feel this really heavy weight inside. I have almost quit my job for various reasons every month for the past six months!

I am not in retirement age nor do I want to be. I just don't know if I am just experiencing burnout or if I need to reassess my whole life? Changing my whole life feels terrifying, but it also gives me lighter feeling if that makes any sense?

I guess my question is what do you think? Is this burnout or do I really need to start making some changes?

I know you cannot completely answer this without tons of more information, but I am really just looking for a little first step to get me moving in some direction!

Randall in Seattle, WA

Hi Randall,

First, thank you for being willing to listen to your inner voice. It is hard to ignore, but most of us do a really good job of drowning out our intuition when it starts talking to us. Second, thanks for writing to me. I know many people feel the same way you do. In fact, I talk to them daily! So, great question to explore in this forum.

My first inclination is to tell you that you already know the answer to your question, without my input at all. In the way you wrote your email to me, I heard the words you said and didn't say. The truth is that you want my answer to be one of the options you presented. You will be disappointed if I don't tell you that I think this is more than burnout. However, I am actually going to provide you with a slightly different option that you didn't present to me.

The other option that comes to mind in sensing your situation is that you are still connected to the medical industry, but maybe it is shifting (or expanding). The fact that you still want "burnout" to be one of your options shows me an unsevered tie. You have completed the 'mission' you set out to when you began this journey 30 years ago. That doesn't mean that you are ready to leave the industry all together, though. You are simply ready to let go of your definition of who you are in that industry and create a new path and definition for yourself -- without abandoning the true connection you will always have that I feel very strongly from you.

So often people think that when they are no longer finding connection and happiness in their career (or in ANY kind of relationship), that it is time to completely move on. The truth is that there are so many options that you cannot see from the very well worn groove (or rut) you have created. The boxes that we put ourselves in become blinders and when we attempt to remove those blinders, the light is way too bright and it all seems very confusing.

In order to really dig into what may be happening there are some key steps to do first. Of course, as a coach, I am always the first to believe that we really cannot do this all alone. That is why I work with a coach and counselor to provide the reflection of myself I cannot see alone. However, if you don't opt to work with someone, these are the steps to assist in your exploration:

1. Discovering what you are no longer connecting to in your existing career is the first step. There is something that used to be there that no longer is. You used to have an emotional fulfillment from your career that is now missing in some way. What feels missing? It is imperative to be as truthful as you can. You must ask yourself the hard questions to really get at the core of what is creating this dissonance in your life. Without knowing what is missing, you really cannot create anything to replace it. Many people don't discover what is missing and just jump into another bad situation that seems different on the outside and ends up being EXACTLY the same on the inside. Get to the core of what is weighing you down.

2. When you know what is missing, you start getting a clearer picture of what it is you want to be experiencing. The very nature of contrast shows the flip side. When you know what you are wanting, you can then begin creating a picture of it in your mind. You have to start with the thought, then comes the energetic connection to the emotions (which are the vibrations the universe responds to) and then actions automatically begin to happen in response. This is just the natural way of the universe (as you most likely know).

3. After you have identified your true picture and you start taking the actions, something interesting is going to happen. You are going to suddenly become aware of all the fears, conflicting intentions and beliefs that are living in your subconscious that aren't so sure this new picture is 100% what you want. And, the truth is, it is most likely right. We are very complex beings. We can consciously want things, and yet, subconsciously have a completely different set of goals.

Behavior reveals to you the essence of what you are subconsciously believing. Our conscious mind can logically explain something all day long, but the behavior is what speaks the truth. When you start experiencing blocks, look to your behaviors for clues. This shows you what you haven't discovered in your subconscious. This is not a bad thing. It is a wonderful opportunity to get to the source of what may be keeping you stuck where you are.

4. Once you have ferreted out the real beliefs and intentions, you have a wonderful opportunity to begin creating a whole new plan of action. The actions you take will suddenly be extremely easy and flowing. You will wonder if you fell into a whole new universe! There is flow out there when we stay on top of our authentic life. When you are in alignment, the options, the opportunities, the actions ALL make sense and appear as if by magic. Yes, the magic is that you explored the gold mine that is yourself and discovered the secret passage way to your next journey!

I realize this may all sound a bit theoretical. You are right, it challenging to give you exact details as so many of the actions are directly related to the actions that come before. Again, this is why I encourage you to work with someone or locate resources (programs, groups, workshops, seminars, books, etc.) that can assist you in this exploration. You have a lot here to get you started. I will talk with you a bit more offline to ensure you can take the next step!

Bottom line... you have something to share and it is contacting you through this dissatisfaction. You owe it to yourself and your journey here to learn what it is and experience it!

~ Always,
Melissa

I currently have a really great job in theory, but something is missing and I am not sure what it is? I don't want to leave the job. I want to figure out what is not clicking. I think I would be really lost if I left, but right now, I am feeling so unhappy. It sounds a little crazy, I know. Since I don't know what isn't working or why I am feeling the way I do, I cannot seem to use the focusing on what I want technique to make things change. I just feel stuck. Any help you might be able to give me would be great.

R. V., New York

Hi R. V.,

Interesting situation. And totally normal! I talk with people who feel like this all the time. I share that because so often we not only feel stuck, but we beat ourselves up for being different, hard to please, "crazy," etc., etc. The truth is that you are a part of a special group of people who desire to do more and feel more and aren't sure how to set that up.

For the most part, jobs are created for people. We go in and do what is defined and assigned. Even executives often are following existing processes that define the format from which they work.

What we forget is that being an active part of defining your own job is imperative to real career happiness. And, you would be surprised at how often it is supported by the company.

Usually, the company has one main intention -- for you to be productive -- which in turns makes the company more successful. If you do your job with half the excitement and passion that you possess, just because you are attempting to fit into some arbitrary mold, you aren't as productive as you can be AND, more importantly, you are miserable and end up leaving. All of the outcomes are bad. For you and for the company.

If, however, you take an active role in defining what you want your career/job to look like (of course taking into account the position you did sign on to do, etc.), you will tap into your greatest strengths and get to use those daily. Not only will you be so much happier on a daily basis, but you will also be 100% more productive. EVERYONE wins.

What many people think, and it sounds as though you may feel this as well, is that you have to make huge changes to elicit huge shifts. Not true.

When you dig into your existing situation, the key is uncovering EXACTLY what is not working for you. In addition, you identify what IS working for you.

There can be lots of wonderful things that you love about your existing job and still be unhappy. However, that doesn't mean you haven't found the career or industry for you, there could be something much more basic going on.

Or, as is the case with most people I work with, there is something that is triggering a belief you are subconsciously holding on to and it is affecting your perception of your job.

Discovering what you are holding on to and releasing it (if that is appropriate) can make a huge shift in your perception toward everything. You could walk into your job and truly believe that everyone changed overnight. It can feel like you just woke up from a very deep and long sleep!

What I advise is to start digging into what part of you is feeling out of alignment with what you are doing? What are the emotions that are coming up and what triggers those? Ask yourself questions that empower you to discover, not judge or condemn.

When you uncover the gap between what is and what you desire it to be, that is where the real work will be done. That is where you have to ask some tougher questions like how is the way it is right now still serving you even though it may feel as though it isn't? What would happen if you really did have freedom in this one area or support in doing something slightly different? How would that affect the rest of your life? Your family? What fears does that trigger?

The truth is that discovery of the situation is 85% of what is required to really make change in life. The "to do" almost just happens on its own when you are certain and clear in what direction you want to go and how that serves you 100% now.

Give yourself the gift of discovery and you will find profound answers that will have you wondering why you stayed unhappy for so long! I will write a bit more to you off line.

Thanks for putting yourself out there. Huge first step!

Melissa

The key to successfully creating the career, relationship or financial success you most want is simply modeling a system that has been proven to work.

When you put a puzzle together, do you leave all the pieces in the box and start assembling whatever you can find that will fit together?

Or do you get all the pieces out and in front of you so you can sort them in like colors, create your defining border and then begin methodically testing which pieces may go together?

Life IS a puzzle and it really is meant to be fun. There is a bigger picture and all the pieces you need are there to create that picture.

However, keeping it all inside and expecting to figure it out all alone is like trying to put a puzzle together while it is still in the box. It's a struggle, it's inefficient and, bottom line, it's NO FUN!

Getting all of your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, habits -- pieces of your life -- out of you and on to the table is imperative to getting it all together. When you start sorting the colors of your life puzzle, you will begin discovering what your picture actually is and you will start to see just what fits where.

This is a very special time in our history. There are so many resources to assist in your journey. The truly gifted and determined are finding those resources and figuring out the picture they came to experience.

Today, decide that for yourself. You deserve it. Actually, we all deserve it.

"We're taught that specific language acts negatively or positively when dealing with the Law of Attraction. How can we learn to talk to ourselves and others in the language that will connect with the universe in the right way, after we have been speaking and using language differently all our lives?"

Gratefully in tune,

A. G., Melbourne, Australia

Hi A. G.,

Yes, you are absolutely correct. Language is a potent attractor in creating your life. Language is actually one example of an action that manifests out of the thoughts you think. You cannot have language without engaging your mind to create it.

The thing to remember is that there is really no such thing as good and bad language. There is only language that moves you closer to what you desire or closer to what you do not desire. This is true of thoughts as well. There are not good and bad thoughts. You are either focused on what you desire or focused on what you do not desire.

If you read last week's post below (universal laws) you know, based on the Law of Relativity, that everything is contextual to each person. The only way to decide if a thought, and then subsequent vocalization of that thought, is what you want to be thinking and saying, is if it is getting you closer to what you most desire; if it is in alignment with your intentions; if it feels connected to something greater when its vibration is released from your mouth.

Given that language is not about controlling what you say, this actually makes it quite easy to begin changing your language. The focus is not on the language you choose, but rather it is on the thoughts that you initially think. This really means that it is about what you are putting your attention and focus on. Are you putting your attention on what you most desire or on what you do not desire?

For example, when you are going somewhere and you leave the house a few minutes later than you anticipated, are you focused on arriving on time with ease and joy or are you focused on NOT being late? Do you notice that when you are focused on NOT being late (which the universe hears as a vibration al focus/connection with being late) how many red lights you hit and slow drivers you get behind? Do you notice how your language falls in line with your thoughts?

It seems the universe is conspiring to ensure that you are late. Hmm.. isn't that what you are focused on? The Law of Attraction is always at play. It makes no judgment on good and bad, right and wrong. It simply gives you what you ask for.

Practicing is the key to re-training your brain to focus on what you most desire. However, even though you are not a master at it (as you never really will be because you are human!), even while you are practicing you are manifesting and creating.

Awareness is the greatest tool you can have in regards to learning how to stay focused on that which you most desire to attract into your life. It is imperative to be aware of when you are not focusing your thoughts on what you desire (and thus are affecting what language you use). When you are aware of how you are thinking about something, you have the opportunity to shift it if need be.

Since language is a manifestation of what you are thinking, it can also provide great insight and clues if you are not creating what you believe you are. Becoming aware of what is going on deeper in the subconscious mind, where conflicting intentions and desires are born, can often be discovered in the language that you are using. Discovering what is really going on is another imperative to truly creating what you are intending to create -- be that a more fulfilling job, a more intimate relationship or improved abundance. Use your language to uncover your true intentions. Then, when you are aware of what is really going on, you can begin to focus on what you most desire and then language will spring forth manifesting it. It is a circular process that only requires a clear intention for being in complete alignment with self.

I so appreciate the question as I have received many similar ones to it. Your question will help many!

Manifest with Pass ion...

"You talk about the universal laws and the Law of Attraction. What are the universal laws? How does the Law of Attraction fit into the universal laws? Do I need to know the other laws if I know LOA?

J. T., Crib Island

Hi J. T.,

Thanks for the question. The universal laws are the laws that govern the universe. They support the Law of Attraction in multiple ways, in fact, offering scientific proof that LoA really does work the way it is taught. Regardless of your knowledge of the laws, they are always "working." Thus, like anything, first becoming aware can be a huge advantage and then applying what you know gives you the power to deliberately create what you want in your life.

Using the universal laws in conjunction with the Law of Attraction can greatly speed up your manifesting abilities. Any time you can use a tool to assist you in creating, USE IT! We cannot do this all alone. We are not supposed to. There are many techniques, tools and teachers out there to make this all a whole lot easier.

The eight universal laws (with brief descriptions) are:

The first universal law is that energy is. Simply stated, everything in the universe is made of energy. Energy vibrates at varying speeds creating different "things" that you can see or not see. Your thoughts are energy and the computer you are looking at is energy. The importance of knowing this law is that the energy of your thoughts attracts like thoughts. As you most likely know, this is a key element in the Law of Attraction.

The second universal law is the Law of Vibration al Attraction. This law puts into action law #1. The rate at which energy vibrates determines what you see or simply feel. The slower the vibration, the more dense are the properties. The more dense, the more you can physically see (a.k.a. the computer is more dense than your thoughts, so you see your computer and you only feel your thoughts). Since your feelings and thoughts are vibrating much faster, they can also be altered/shifted and changed just as quickly. This gives you great power in choosing thoughts and/or shifting thoughts to attract more of what you desire.

The third law is the Law of Polarity. This law is also found in the Law of Attraction. This law explains that everything in the universe has an equal and opposite counterpart. What often happens is that you may be experiencing something you don't think you asked for and definitely now you don't want. And yet, there it is. The truth is that you are always creating, but not always consciously creating. Subconscious creating is what you do with the other 88% of your mind. It is in the subconscious that you have many intentions. Every intention you have is for your ultimate good. Unfortunately, just as it may be for your good, it may show up in behaviors or situations that are the other side of the coin. If you look closely at situations that have originally appeared to be negative, you may find that great opportunities were born from this same situation. The Law of Polarity says that for every event there are always two sides -- the positive and the negative. It is your choice as to which you will focus your energy upon and thus create more of in your life. Exactly what the Law of Attraction teaches.

The fourth law is the Law of Rhythm. "Getting into the flow" has become somewhat of a catch phrase used to describe when you feel in alignment with whatever you are engaged in. This phrase is driven by this law because it is your natural rhythm surfacing when you are feeling "the flow." Everything in the universe is moving in perfect rhythm and you have access to it when you let it in. When your body, mind and spirit are connecting, you experience the natural high of total alignment. The Law of Attraction is all about being alignment for focused creating and its third requirement is letting it in.

The fifth law is the Law of Relativity. This law states that everything is defined based on the context and filters through which is being assessed. You may think that a 35 degree day in the middle of winter is really warm. I may think that it is frigid cold. It is all relative because you may be living in Alaska and a 35 degree day there in the winter (relative to how it usually is) would feel warm. I may be living in Florida and a 35 degree day would be almost unheard of and feel colder than I can ever remember feeling. The importance of this law in creating your life is to remember that your perception is your reality. You get to decide your perception and thus decide your reality. The Law of Attraction states that what you focus on and give the most energy and focus to is what you will attract more of in your life. Therefore, frame your perceptions to include bigger pictures of what is possible.

The sixth law is the Law of Cause and Effect. This is the most prevalent felt law in the universe. It is at the core of the Law of Attraction. That which you create you feel the effects of. It reminds you of the power you have in creating. Being at cause of your world is far more powerful than being at effect. The Law of Attraction says that you are the creator of your experience by what you give your attention to. This means that you are causing all the circumstances of your life all the time (at some energetic level -- even if you cannot physically put your finger on it). Choose what you want to focus your attention on with consciousness and you will cause the effects you most desire.

The seventh law is the Law of Gender. This law is about seeds and planting. Planting seeds to be watered and allowed to grow is what you actually do when you are practicing the Law of Attraction. You create the seed of thought and plant it into the fertile ground of your mind. Your attention and focus is the water that grows that seed into a manifested reality. If you don't put enough focus/attention/water on the seed, the seed cannot grow and thus you will not see the manifestation of your desire. It is that simple.

The eighth law is the Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy. The perpetual transmutation of energy means that energy is continuously changing from one form to another. Your thoughts are a form of energy that (when directed and focused) are changed into other forms that you can then physically see (i.e. manifestations of thoughts to things). This is what turns your seed in the Law of Gender from an idea to a reality.

Practicing all eight laws and becoming more and more familiar with them can make a huge difference in the speed with which you manifest using the Law of Attraction.

Great question and good manifesting!

~Melissa
